tag heuer watchesMy best friend Mark is impossible to shop for. He is literally the guy who has it all. It used to be so easy to shop for him. He loves gadgets and technology, he adores any clothing I buy him, and he’s thrilled when I purchase him tickets to the Yankee game. But I’ve done all this before, over and over again. How many times can I buy him a shirt before people start thinking I’m his girlfriend for dressing him so well?

Then I realized there was one gift I never touched upon, discount watches. Mark is a fashionable and snazzy dresser, mostly because of me, and he loves his accessories. michael kors watchesWe can’t help but let technology take over most of our lives. It makes life simpler and faster. But, sometimes that means we have to sacrifice the items we once loved. Many of us have already turned to e-readers and replaced tangibly bound books simply because they are more convenient. Unfortunately, some of us have also given up on designer watches because they can get the time on their cellphones or other electronic devices.

This is particularly of my generation, which tends to see items such as Tissot watches as archaic timepieces like the sundial. But I know, and you, the loyal readers know, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes there are many ways to tell the time, but watches aren’t just about telling time. They are a fashion statement and an accessory that can complete an outfit. They can even be a sign of status and power. After all, not everyone can afford a Rolex.

If you love your designer shoes and your designer shirt, why not throw in the Michael Kors watches too? A recent article revealed that as people move into their 30′s, they suddenly realize that wearing watches as fashion pieces isn’t all that bad. It’s cool and it’s hip; designer watches aren’t going anywhere!

My Fossil Watches and I

fossil watchesAs a gal on a budget, I can’t really afford to spend $1,000 on a watch. Of course I would love to because so many of the designer brands have simply beautiful designs. Hopefully I can afford it one day, but for now I must stick to brands that are a little more in my price range, like Fossil watches. I’m still getting the quality I desire, but at a price that makes my wallet happy.

I’ve been a fan of Fossil watches for years, switching from one design to the next. My current watch was a Christmas gift about two years ago and I still love this watch very much. It has a stainless steel strap and a black and gray face. The center is a lighter gray that darkens into black and it has white markers. It’s such a simple watch, nothing fancy at all. The only other features are a calender and a movable dial. Yet I still get compliments on it frequently, even years later.

I love Fossil watches for their sleek simplicity. I can wear their watches everyday with my casual outfits to work without feeling under-accessorized. Even when I may afford a Rolex, my heart will always lie with Fossil.

Limited Edition Indy 500 Tag Heuer Watch

The company decided to celebrate the 100th anniversary of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” with a limited edition Indy 500 watch. The official name is the Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph. It is all silver with a gray face. There are three subdials and the official Indy 500 logo appears in the bottom subdial. The calendar is located on top near the 12 o’clock. It’s also not shocking that the watch was designed to look like a race car driver’s dashboard.

There will only be 100 of the watches made –super exclusive– and they will retail for $1,650.
